Work to start on new 3G training pitch!

We are delighted to announce that work to construct a new 3G pitch at our training ground at the Roe Lane Playing Fields, in Clayton will start on Monday 13 February 2023.

This is a huge step forward for the club. Not only will it mean that we have a reliable space to train, but it also means that the new facility – which will be available all year round – will enable us to provide a facility that everyone, especially children and young people, will be able to make good use of.

Newcastle Town chairman, Gavin Appleby, said: “This is a really proud moment for the club, and I have to admit to feeling very emotional at the prospect of the difference this is going to make.

“This new facility matters to us in a number of ways but the one that I’m most excited about is how it can serve as a means of bringing our local communities together.

“Naturally, this could never have become a reality without the significant contributions from our partners and on that note, I would like to put on record my incredible gratitude to our funders the Football Foundation and Red Industries for their support in providing the financial means to help us realise this dream.”

Robert Sullivan, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation, said: “This grant award to Newcastle Town FC towards developing a 3G facility is great news for the local community.

“It will support people’s ability to play our national game locally and therefore help unlock football’s many benefits to physical and mental wellbeing. That’s why we’re committed to transforming the face of grassroots football facilities in this country. It’s therefore very welcome news to hear that this funding will support Newcastle Town in developing this facility for the local community.”

Adam Share, Chairman of Red Industries, said: “We are very proud of our long-standing partnership with Newcastle Town Football Team which spans from 2009, so we were delighted to be able to play a key role in their plans for the new 3G pitch.

It’s been our privilege to contribute substantially to enhance the facilities at the club over the years but to be involved in this £1.1m new 3G project is taking it to a whole new level.

Supporting the local community and impacting the lives of others in such a positive way aligns with our values as a business and we are pleased to champion such a great cause and we are look forward to seeing the new 3G pitch up and running benefiting the local community.”

The new pitch will be a significant asset for Staffordshire Football, and it will help provide further support for existing Newcastle Town FC teams as well as many other local grassroots teams. It will also help enhance the clubs offer for female and disabled players, alongside providing recreational opportunities and volunteer, match official and coach support.

Kevin Staples, Head of Delivery at the Staffordshire FA, said: This is another significant moment for Staffordshire Football with the addition of a new 3G pitch in Newcastle under Lyme. The commitment shown by the football club to make this project a reality has been great to see and we are excited to see how the club continues to support grassroots football and its community over the years to come.”

The work to get the 3G pitch ready is expected to be completed in May. Anyone interested in using our new facility can contact the club on info@newcastletownfc.co.uk

We are expecting to make the pitch available for booking from around early May.
