Are you looking for funding in the Staffordshire area?

The community around a landfill site benefits from funding for local community and environmental projects through the Landfill Communities Fund.  Projects within a 3 mile radius of RED’s licensed landfill (Silverdale, Newcastle-under-Lyme, ST5 6SB) or treatment and transfer station (Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, ST6 2DZ), could be eligible for funding through the Landfill Communities Fund.

Projects which benefit the local community or environment could receive a grant.  The types of projects that could be eligible include:

• Providing, maintaining or improving a public park or amenity which directly benefits the community – such as improvements to community halls, repairs to public sporting facilities, or providing a new park.
• Conservation of a natural habitat.
• Maintenance, repair or restoration of a religious building or a building of historical importance which is open to the public.

The project must be open to the general public and be run as not-for profit.  The types of groups that have applied for this type of funding include Scout Groups, Football Clubs, Community Centre Groups, Museums and more.  The Landfill Communities Fund provides money to groups to help them improve, create, or develop their services for local residents.
