A new offloading pad has been installed at Walleys Landfill
Our non-haz landfill site in Staffordshire operates to the highest standards and we’re constantly innovating and improving. Our latest engineering innovation includes a brand new 700m2 offloading pad at Walleys Landfill. It has been developed for trucks, vans, trade waste and other vehicles to tip onto a specially engineered platform.
This means customers do not need to drive onto the landfill to offload waste, but can drive straight from the weighbridge onto a concreted platform – benefiting customers through a shorter journey, being more efficient, and quicker unloading times. This will also ensure a quicker turn around time for vehicles which will reduce waiting times for trucks entering the landfill.
The offloading bay is secured with push-walls, where the waste can be safely held before being transported by Red’s vehicles into the appropriate landfill cell.
Our landfill is highly engineered – at the site there is a leachate treatment plant as well as as an energy generation facility. In 2019, the site generated over 14,000mwhs of electricity, enough to power over 5,000 homes.
