Planting up takes place as part of Volunteers Week

A big thank you to Edenhurst Preparatory School, Westlands Womens Institute, Borough Mayor Simon White, and Staffordshire Federation Womens Institute, and the Newcastle Borough Council Green Team for their support in freshening up the planters on Borough Road.

Purple, green, and white plants were used to fill the refurbished planters – the colour theme of Women’s Suffrage.  The project was created in partnership with Staffordshire Federation WI to celebrate their 100th anniversary.

The project was completed as part of Volunteers Week.  Despite the wet weather, the fantastic volunteers were not deterred!

After the planting finished, the volunteers were invited back to our Head Office, where they were provided with tea and delicious cake, kindly baked  by the Westlands WI.

We’re proud to be one of the sponsors of the project and supporters of Newcastle-in-Bloom.  The planters look lovely and will be seen by numerous passers-by, brightening up the area!
