Adam’s December Challenge #MdS2017

Every day in December, Adam will be running to complete 256 miles by the end of the month!  1st December was 1 mile, 2nd December was 2 miles and so on... reaching a peak of 16 miles on 16th December.  Despite freezing temperatures and battling with pain in his heel, he's been up and running for the first 5 days of the challenge so far.  Only another 26 days to go! Acquisition of Walleys Quarry Landfill Red Holdings Limited announces that its subsidiary, Red Industries RM Limited, has acquired Walleys Quarry Landfill  the landfill and power generation business, from Tarmac Limited. The acquisition is in line with Red Industries stated strategy of expanding its waste management activities Walleys Landfill site is located near Newcastle-Under-Lyme and comprises approximately 2.7m cubic metres of consented capacity; landfill gas power generation capabilities  totalling 4 MW capacity; and associated leachate treatment facility . Hubbub and Unilever have released new research revealing the shocking number of pumpkins that go to waste. Halloween is now the UK's third biggest commercial holiday after Easter and Christmas.  Over 40% of households now buy a pumpkin at Halloween - with an average of 2 bought per household. When asked, 4 out of 5 people said they wanted to reduce their food waste, however more than half of them don't see pumpkin as a food.  Therefore a huge proportion of the pumpkins bought are carved up and then go to waste... in fact, 18,000 tonnes of pumpkin is thrown away each year. A quick overview of our latest news Jacqui Slack Takes 7th Congratulations to RED sponsored Jacqui Slack for taking 7th place at the Xterra World Championships. The gruelling course took place in Maui, Hawaii and involved a 1 mile swim, 20 mile cycle including 3,500 feet climbs up and down the slopes of the West Maui Mountains, and a 6.5 mile trail run through forest and across sand.
